The images below show Shannon Cemetery prior to the removal of the tombstones in 2011 and as it appears today in 2015.
Unfortunately, when the tombstones were originally removed, many of the bases to these stones, as well as other pieces, were thrown in piles along the tree line, near the Riley and never properly taken care of.
On August 16, 2015, members of Friends of Shannon Cemetery, working alongside of the president of the Save Shannon Cemetery Commission, as appointed by the Bluffton Village mayor, worked to clear the brush and save these valuable pieces of history. The base of the Huber Monument was brought to the storage facility with the other two pieces that it went with and other bases and fragments of tombstones were organized and neatly stacked, awaiting proper preservation to proceed.
